News & Events

Christmas Dinner: Members and visitors are invited to a covered-dish dinner on SATURDAY, DECEMBER 12, at 6:00 pm, in the Social Hall, as we celebrate the Christmas season. Please bring one or more covered-dishes (enough for your family and guests). We will give away a lot of wonderful door prizes; and have special activities, crafts, music, and games for the children. So take time out from your busy schedules and join us for good food, fellowship, and fun in the Lord’s house, for He is the “reason for the season.” (No gifts should be exchanged at the dinner.)

Live Nativity: Our Live Nativity Scene will be presented in the front church yard on the evenings of December 19-24, from 7-8:30 pm. If you want to be blessed while being a blessing to our community, please sign up to participate in this live portrait of Jesus’ birth. Sign-up forms are in your Sunday School classes and in the circle.

The Little Drummer Boy (Sunday, December 20, 10:55 am): Can you imagine how the “Little Drummer Boy” felt as he watched the “Wise Men” bestow their lavish gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh upon the Christ Child; yet, having nothing of his own to give? Well, almost nothing—nothing but a song that is. All this little pauper pheasant could give the “King of Kings and Lord of Lords” was his worship! Come to think of it, that's all that Jesus desires of any of us—worship! He doesn't want our “stuff.” He just wants us; our worship! You will certainly want to bring all of your family and friends on Sunday morning, December 20 as we join the Choir, “Wise Men,” and the “Little Drummer Boy” for an exceptional Christmas Worship experience!

Candlelight Communion Service (Wednesday, December 23, 6:30 pm): The Hillcrest Family will gather for the sweetest service of the year—the annual Christmas Candlelight Communion Service. All of our family will be participating this year. Our adults, teens, children, Deacons and staff will be leading us in “Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs.” We will conclude our time together with Communion at the “Christmas Tables” and the lighting of Christmas candles. This service will only last fifty-five minutes (6:30 - 7:25 pm). Invite the neighbors, bundle up the kids, come casual and celebrate the sweetest worship event of the Christmas season!

New Years Eve Service: Join us in the Sanctuary on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 31, at 6:30 pm, as we end the year with praise, prayer, and testimonies of what God has done for us during the year. Invite friends and neighbors to come as we prepare our hearts for what God would have us do for Him in 2010, as individuals and as a church. Light refreshments will be served in the Social Hall immediately following the service. (Note: Because of this service, there will no service or other activities at the church on Wednesday night, December 30.)

Discover Hillcrest: If you are new to our church (members and visitors), we invite you to have lunch with us on SUNDAY, JANUARY 10, at 12:30 pm, to meet our staff and learn more about the ministry opportunities, programs, activities, and mission trips at Hillcrest. Look for sign-up forms in the bulletin during December.
