John Burkhalter,  lecturer, recorder, studied the performance of early music at the New England Conservatory and the performance of baroque music at Harvard with Dutch recorder virtuoso and scholar Frans Bruggen.  With "The Practitioners of Musick," he performs 18th century music of Great Britain, Ireland, Colonial and early Federal America, New France and the Vice-Royalties of New Spain and Peru.  He has lectured extensively on the ancient musical cultures of the Americas and on the cultural life of Colonial societies in the New World.
