Annie Butler, daughter of Samuel, was born on March 3, 1865 at Cambridge, England. She died at the age of
fifty-nine years on November 4, 1924 at Detroit, Michigan. She was buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Dryden, Michigan. Annie came to American with her mother, Sarah, arriving in American on July 12, 1880 aboard the steamship Spain, which sailed from Liverpool.
Annie married on March 20, 1883 at Downington, Michigan to Frank M. Terry, son of Joshua Terry and Liza Jane Sanborn. Frank was born on September 27, 1858 in Michigan. He died at the age of seventy-nine years, six months and twenty-one days on April 18, 1938 at Dryden, Michigan. He is buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Frank was a farmer by profession.
In 1930, Frank owned his home, which was valued at $2,000. He also owned a radio.
Annie and Frank had three children. However, the 1910 United States census indicated that Annie and Frank had four children. Only three survived to be enumerated in the various census returns.
- Carey Elmore Terry who was born on December 11, 1885 in the State of Michigan. He died in July of 1968 at Imlay City, Michigan. According to his World War I draft registration card Carey was tall and of medium build. He had dark blue eyes and light brown hair.
According to the 1910 United States census, Carey was a printer for a locate newspaper. According to his World War I draft registration card, which was dated September 12, 1918, Carey was the postmaster for the City of Dryden. According to the 1920 United States census, Carey was the postmaster for Dryden Village in Dryden, Michigan. According to the 1930 United States census, Carey was the printer and editor of the Dean Paper in Imlay, Michigan.
Carey and Ida owned their home in 1930, which was valued at $4,000. The family owned a radio.
Carey married on November 8, 1911 at Dryden, Michgan to Ida Anna John, daughter of Herman John and Eva Sacow. She was born in Germany. She came to America in 1893 and became a naturalized citizen in 1902. According to the Michigan Death Index 1971-1996, as found at http://www.ancestry.com, Ida was born on January 7,1893 and died at Bruce, Michigan on December 21, 1973. Carey was twenty-five at the time of his marriage. Ida was nineteen.
Carey and Ida had one child.
- Phyllis A Terry was born about 1918. This year is based upon her age, one year and eleven months, as reported in the 1920 United States census return. The 1930 United States census return reported her age as thirteen. The Social Security Death Index indicates that Phyllis was born on January 3, 1917 and died in February of 1983. It appears from her uncle’s obituary that she married Kent Gillies.
- Daniel F. Terry who was born on November 17, 1888 near Dryden, Michigan. He died on March 19, 1953 at Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. He was buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Dryden, Michigan. Daniel was a farmer by profession, working the family farm until his retirement. According to his World War I draft registration card, which was dated June 5, 1917, Daniel was an RFD carrier for the post office in Dryden, Michigan.
- Nellie Gertrude Terry who was born in February of 1901. She died as a result of beast cancer at the age of fifty-eight on January 8, 1959 at Port Huron, Michigan. She was buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Dryden, Michigan on January 11, 1959. Nellie, as reported in the 1920 United States census, was a teacher at a private school by profession.
