He died on May 23, 1923 in Jackson, Michigan. He is buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Jackson. According to the 1880 United States census for the City of Dryden in Lapeer County, Michigan, Charles was a farmer. According to the 1900 United States census return for the Township of Grayling, Crawford County, Michigan, he was a foreman in a lumber-planking mill. There is information posted at http://www.ancestry.com that would suggest Charles' middle name was Henry.
Charles married at Dryden, Michigan on June 5, 1874 to Juliette A. Sutphen, daughter of William Sutphen and Elsie (Elcey) M. Keith . Juliette was born in September of 1855 in the State of Michigan. She died on October 22, 1932 at Jackson, Michigan. She is buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Jackson. In 1930, Juliette was living with her daughter, Elsie, in Jackson.
The 1900 United States census return for the Township of Grayling, Crawford County, Michigan reported that Charles and Juliette had six children.
Elsie married Harvey (Harry) Arthur Capron, son of Hiram (Herman) Humphrey Capron and Mary Keeler, on July 12, 1905 at Jackson, Michigan. Harvey was born on October 18, 1885 at Grass Lake, Michigan. However, October 18, 1886 is cited as his date of birth on his death certificate, which information was provided by Elsie. He died on October 28, 1944 at Jackson, Michigan. At various times in his life, Harvey was a train dispatcher for the electric railroad in Jackson, an automobile salesman and an electrical supply salesman. Harvey’s death certificate indicated that his occupation was that of sheriff.
Harvey’s World War I draft registration card, which was dated September 9, 1918, tells us that he was thirty-two years of age, that he was born on the date given above, that he was a self-employed automobile dealer, that he was tall and had brown eyes and hair. At the time of his draft registration, Harvey’s family lived at 1038 East Main Street in Jackson, Michigan.
Elsie and Harvey had one child.
Anne married on September 14, 1897 at Grayling, Michigan to Orrin Enos Blair, son of Orrin Blair and Ruby Ransom. Orrin was born on July 16, 1871 at Litchfield, Michigan. He died on November 18, 1945 at Jackson, Michigan. He was an inspector of streetcars and an electrician for the streetcar company. In 1930 Orrin owned his house, which was valued at $6,000. However, he did not have a radio.
Based on the 1920 and 1930 United States federal census reports, it appears that Anna and Orrin were divorced. In 1930, Anna is found lodging with the George Lewis family at 135 West Mason Street. Her marital status is report as divorced. However, Orrin's certificate of death reported his marital status as widowed. The 1920 and 1930 United States federal census returns also reported Orrin's marital status as widowed.
Anna and Orrin had two children.
Charles married Beatrie M. [family name unknown]. Beatrice was born on September 24, 1899 and died at Jackson, Michigan on March 31, 1992.
Anna appears to have married a second time to Adam E. Cline, as witnessed by her obituary cited above. It is interesting to note that in the 1930 United States federal census there is one Adam E. Cline also lodging with the George Lewis family. At the time of the census Adam was forty-eight years of age, indicating that he was born about 1882. There exists a World War I draft registration card, dated September 12, 1918, for Adam Earl Cline which indicates that Adam was born on June 26, 1881. Information found at http://www.findagrave.com for Woodlawn Cemetery indicates that Adam died on April 12 1956.

He was employed as a traveling salesman for Mishawaka Woolen Manufacturing Company. He was living at 402 Union in Jackson, Michigan.
According to the 1900 United States census return for the Township of Grayling, Crawford County, Michigan Guy was a lumber dealer. According to the 1910 United States census return for the City of Jackson, Michigan, Guy was a traveling shoes salesman. According to the 1920 United States census return for the City of Jackson, Michigan, Guy was a district manager for an auto sales agency. In 1930 Guy was the proprietor of an automobile agency.
On September 1, 1904, Guy married Lillian Elena Cradit, daughter of Theodore Riley Cradit and Emily Jane Clayden, at Jackson, Michigan. Lillian was born on September 13, 1884 in Leoni Township, Michigan. She died on April 29, 1974 in Broward County, Florida. In 1910 and 1920 the family lived at 402 Union Street in Jackson, Michigan. In 1930 the family was living at 542 Union Street. Guy owned his home, which was valued at $7,500, and the family had a radio.
Guy and Lillian had at least five children. The birth years of all the children except Helen are based on their ages in the 1920 United States Federal census.
Norval and Helen had a son, Don, who was twenty months of age at the time of Norval death. This would indicate that Don was born some time in 1922.
Norval’s World War I draft registration card, which was dated June 5, 1918, confirms his date of birth, gives his age as twenty-one years, describes him as being medium height and slender of build, having blue eyes and brown hair. He was working for Central Auto and Supple Co.
