William Franklin Butler, son of William, was born in June of 1872 in Michigan. He died at the age of seventy-six on February 7, 1949 at Grayling, Michigan. He is buried in Elmwood Cemetery at Grayling.
In 1900 William worked as a lumber dealer. In 1910 was a foreman for a lumberyard. In 1920 he was a lumber inspector. In 1930 he was employed as the manager of a lumberyard. He owned his home, which was located at 1634 Meriden and was valued at $10,000. The family had a radio.
William married on July 7, 1896 at Grayling to Josephine Taylor, daughter of Adelbert Taylor and Clarissa Thankful [family name unknown]. The ceremony took place at the home of Adelbert Taylor. Josephine was born in October of 1873 in the State of New York. She died at the age of fifty-seven on March 14, 1930 at Grayling and is buried in Elmwood Cemetery. Josephine's family name was determined by the 1920 United States census return. Her brother, William, was living with the family at the time the census was taken. According to the September 12, 1895 edition of the Avalanche newspaper of Grayling, Michigan “Miss Josie Taylor has been engaged to teach the Hanna district, in Beaver Creek, and will begin her school next Monday. Her experience and previous success insures them a successful term.”
According to the 1910 United States census return, William and Josephine had four children.
- Florence B. Butler was born on January 5, 1898 . In 1920, Florence worked as a telephone operator. In 1930 she was employed an office stenographer.
- Estella LaVerne Butler was born on November 2, 1899 at Grayling. She died as the result of bronchitis at the age of three years, four months and three days on March 5, 1903 at Grayling. She is buried in Elmwood Cemetery at Grayling.
- Lorraine Butler was born on October 5, 1904. She died at the age of twenty days on October 25, 1904 as a result of acute bronchosis. She is buried in Elmwood Cemetery.
- William Franklin Butler, Jr. was born on March 25, 1906 . He died on August 21, 1984 at Venice, Florida. However, he is buried in Elmwood Cemetery at Grayling.
William married Ethel May [family name unknown]. William was a public accountant by profession. Ethel May worked as a telephone operator. According to the 1930 United States census return, Ethel came to America from England in 1922.
