Jennie L. Curtis, daughter of Henry, was born on 13 September 1852 at Kelly Township, Warren County, Illinois. She died on 20 October 1944 at Avoca, Iowa. She was buried on 23 October 1944 in Graceland Cemetery at Avoca, Iowa.
Jennie was a member of the Saturday Club, which helped to establish the public library at Avoca, Iowa in 1898. She attended Knox College at Galesburg, Illinois during the 1868-69 academic year. Jennie was a bookkeeper for her husband farm implements business.
Jennie married on 19 December 1871 at Avoca, Iowa to Robert S. Hart. The names of his parents are presently unknown. Robert was a native of Juniata County, Pennsylvania where he was born circa 1841 and educated. He moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1867. In 1875, he formed, in partnership with Mr. Strugant, an agricultural implements business. In addition, Robert ran a 240-acre farm near Avoca, Iowa. He died on 6 November 1922. He is buried in Graceland Cemetery at Avoca, Iowa. In 1886, he served in the 21st. Iowa State Legislature as representative of House District 21. He was elected on 3 November 1885 and re-elected on 8 November 1887.
Robert wrote his will on 4 October 1910 in which he left some land to his sister and the remaining portion of his real and personal estate to his wife. Upon his death, his real estate consisted of 240 acres of land and was valued at $47,200. His personal estate was valued at $16,092.95.
Jennie and Robert had four children, all of whom were born at Avoca, Iowa.
