Edna Gleason and Earl Harris

Edna Mae Gleason, daughter of Harvey was born on September 14, 1902 at Audubon, Iowa. She died on April 14, 1981 at Kearney, Nebraska. She was buried on April 18, 1981 in Highland Park Cemetery at Ravenna, Nebraska. Edna was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church.

The picture on the left shows Edna and Earl Harris at their fiftieth wedding anniversary. The original picture is dated February 11, 1970.

Edna married on February 11, 1920 at Grand Island, Nebraska to Earl Harris, son of James G. Harris and Flora M. Lewis. Earl was born on December 4, 1897 at Sodtown, Nebraska. He died on January 15, 1983 at Kearney, Nebraska. He was buried on January 18, 1983 in Highland Park Cemetery at Ravenna, Nebraska. Earl was a farmer by profession. He was a member of the Ravenna Zion Methodist Church.

A copy of Earl's World War I draft registration card, which was dated September 12, 1918, provides the following information. Earl's middle name was Lewis. He was a self-employed farmer living in Gardner Township, St. Michael, Buffalo County, Nebraska. He was of medium height and build and had blue eyes and light color hair. He was twenty years of age at the time of his registration.

Bernadine Harris and Emil Harris

Edna and Earl had two children. The picture on the right was taken around April 15, 1946 according to the date on the back of the original. It shows Bernadine, age seventeen, and Emil, age twenty-five.

  1. Bernadine Grace Harris was born on December 18, 1927 in Buffalo County, Nebraska. She died on August 7, 2006 at Kearney, Nebraska.

    Bernadine married on September 6, 1950 to Jacob H. Slocum. Jacob was born on December 16, 1882 and died in October of 1969 at LaPlatte, Nebraska.

    Bernadine and Jacob had three children.

    1. Thomas Slocum.
    2. George Slocum.
    3. Linda Slocum.

  2. Emil R. Harris was born on January 7, 1921 at Wood River, Nebraska. He died on November 7, 1974 at Omaha, Nebraska. He is buried in Highland Park Cemetery at Ravenna, Nebraska.

    Emil served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the Ravenna V.F.W. He was a member of the Bethelem Luthern Church. According to the U.S. World War II Army Enlistment Records for 1938 to 1946, Emil enlisted on December 19, 1945 at Fort Benning, Georgia for a period of one year. At the time of his enlistment he was living in Nebraska, had completed two years of high school and was employed as a farmer. Dorothy Whaley and Emil Harris

    Emil married on April 22, 1951 at Kearney, Nebraska to Dorothy H. Whaley, daughter of Guy Holbart Whaley and Laura Evangaline Elliott. Dorothy was born on October 12, 1930 at Cozad, Nebraska. She died on September 20, 1994 at Lincoln, Nebraska.

    Emil and Dorothy had three children.

    1. Deborah Harris.
    2. Donna Harris.
    3. Dale Harris.
