Salomé Gruss and Joseph Umbdenstock's Family

Salomé Gruss, daughter of Dominique, was born on March 1, 1817 at Guémar, France. Her marriage registration gives February 28, 1817 as the date of her birth. The date and place of her death are presently unknown.

Salomé married at Guémar, France on August 16, 1849 to François Joseph Umbdenstock, son of André Umbdenstock and Salomé Bleyer. Salomé was thirty-two, as was François Joseph, at the time of their marriage. The witnesses to their marriage were: Maximim Gruss, Salomé's brother, François Joseph Ley, Salomé's brother-in-law and, Jean Baptiste Umbdenstock, François Joseph's brother. François Joseph was born on September 6, 1817 at Guémar, France. He was a farm laborer and a farmer. He obtained a French passport on April 19, 1854 and emigrated with his family to America, with New York at their destination.

Salomé and François Joseph had at least two children.

  1. Salomé Umbdenstock was born on 20 June, 1850 at Guémar, France.
  2. Louise Umbdenstock was born on 21 September, 1852 at Guémar, France. She died on 3 October, 1853 at Guémar, France.
