André Gruss, son of André, was born on July 14, 1718 at Fessenheim, France. André died on January 12, 1786 at Ensisheim, France. He was a tile-maker (tegularius) by profession.
André married during April of 1743 in Saint-Martin's Catholic Church at Ensisheim, France to Anne Marie Schmitt, daughter of Johannes Schmitt. The exact date is difficult to determine because of the handwriting in the registration and the condition of the registry itself. However, it may be either the 4th of April or the 14th of April. In the registration of his marriage, André's home town is given as Blodelsheim, France.
Anne Marie Schmitt was born at Baltzenheim, France. Anne Marie died after 1791 as she is mentioned in her daughter's marriage registration as the widow of André.
André and Anne Marie had eight children, all of whom were born at Ensisheim, France.
Marie Anne married at Ensisheim, France in Saint-Martin's Catholic Church on January 17, 1791 to Gregory Rebé, a widower. Marie Anne appears to have had an illegitimate daughter prior to her marriage.
