André Gruss, son of André was born on November 11, 1745 at Ensisheim, France. He was baptized the same day in Saint-Martin's Catholic Church. André was a tile-maker (tegularius) by profession. We presently do not know when or where he died. However, it appears to have been after 1785 as he is still living at the time of his wife's death.
André married in Saint-Martin's Catholic Church at Ensisheim, France on September 6, 1773 to Clara Glück, daughter of Antoine Glück and Anne Marie Faetzer. A dispensation from the usual double announcement of banns was given to André and Clara. Clara was born on July 30, 1742 at Ensisheim, France and was baptized the same day in Saint-Martin's Catholic Church. She died and was buried on March 13, 1785 at Ensisheim, France.
André and Clara had seven children, all of whom were born at Ensisheim, France.
- Marie Anne Gruss was born on September 19, 1773. She was baptized the same day in Saint-Martin's Catholic Church.
- Clara Gruss was born on December 5, 1774. She was baptized the same day in Saint-Martin's Catholic Church. She died on December 26, 1775 at Ensisheim, France.
- Anne Marie Clara Gruss was born on March 24, 1776. She was baptized the same day in Saint-Martin's Catholic Church.
- Thérèse Gruss was born on November 30, 1777. She was baptized the same day in Saint-Martin's Catholic Church. She died on December 1, 1777 at Ensisheim, France.
- Thérèse Gruss was born on August 7, 1779. She was baptized the same day in Saint-Martin's Catholic Church. She died on June 27, 1782 at Ensisheim, France.
- Catherine Gruss was born on March 20, 1781. She was baptized the same day in Saint-Martin's Catholic Church.
- Ignace Gruss was born on March 5, 1784. He was baptized the same day in Saint-Martin's Catholic Church.
