André Gruss and Madeleine Jacoberger's Family

André Gruss appears at this time to be the progenitor of this branch of the Gruss family. He is the oldest known member of the Gruss family to be discovered to date. From the archival records at Colmar, France it was learned that André was a tile-maker by profession and was probably born at Rouffach, France. Following his trade, André moved from Rouffach to Blodelsheim to Fessenheim. Based on his age, fifty-six, at the time of his death, André was born about 1665. However, there is no conclusive evidence to support this supposition. He died on February 8, 1721 at Fessenheim, France.

André married Madeleine Jacoberger. Based on her age, sixty-two, at the time of her death, Madeleine was born about 1666. She died on January 13, 1728 at Fessenheim, France.
