Henry Hennes and Elizabeth Buck's Family

Henry Jacob Hennes, son of Jacob, was born on February 23, 1888 in Lemont, Illinois. He was baptized in Saint Alphonsus' Catholic Church in Lemont, Illinois on April 1, 1888. His godparents were Henry Feller and Lena Willmeng. Henry died as a result of a stroke on September 16, 1946 at Benton Harbor, Michigan. Henry was part owner of Quality Polishing and Plating Works. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Metropolitan Club of America. He was at one time the fourth ward commissioner and served on the board of supervisors. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Henry's World War I draft registration card provided the following information concerning Henry. He was born February 23, 1888, was employed as a metal polisher for Baker Vater, was tall in height and stout in build, had blue eyes and dark hair. Henry and his family lived at 650 Territorial Road in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

Henry married on August 22, 1911 at Benton Harbor, Michigan to Elizabeth H. Buck, daughter of Frank E. Buck and Florence A. Putnam. Elizabeth was born on July 5, 1890 in Caledonia, Michigan. She died on December 3, 1985 at Benton Harbor, Michigan.

In 1920 Henry and Elizabeth were living at 240 Lavitt Street in Benton Harbor. Henry was working as a polisher in a furniture factory. In 1930, the family was living at 128 Ogden Avenue in Benton Harbor. Henry was working as a polisher and platter for a brass and copper works. Henry's estate is valued at $6.000. There is one, Florence Butts, living with the family. Her relationship to Henry is given as mother-in-law.

Henry and Elizabeth had four children:

  1. Florence Hennes was born on October 8, 1914 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She died on June 19, 2001 in Nazareth, Michigan.

    Florence married on July 24, 1937 to Leonard Carl Heyn, son of Fred Heyn and Amanda [family name unknown]. Leonard was born on May 21, 1910 and died on November 9, 1990 at St. Joseph, Michigan

  2. Margaret Hennes was born on April 4, 1916 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She died on November 3, 2002 at South Haven, Michigan. She was a beautician by profession

    Margaret married on October 11, 1941 to Jack M. Piriano. Jack was born on June 7, 1906 in Italy and died in February of 1978 at Benton Harbor, Michigan. Jack enlisted in the United States army on May 5, 1942 at Kalamazoo, Michigan. His enlistment record provided the following information concerning Jake.

    Education: Two years of College.
    Civil Occupation: Tractor Driver or Truck Driver, Heavy or Chauffeur or Truck Driver, Light.
    Height: Sixty-five inches.
    Weight: One Hundred Seventy-seven pounds.
  3. Henry Hennes, Jr. was born on April 23, 1918 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He died on February 1, 1998 in St. Joseph, Michigan.

    Henry married on June 1, 1947 to Bernice Frances Pesk, daughter of James Pesk and Elsie Krziske. Bernice was born on August 22, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois. She died on December 22, 1972 in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

  4. Helen Hennes was born on July 25, 1924 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She died on December 16, 2000 in Benton Harbor.

    Helen married on June 17, 1944 to Richard Wright.
