Michael A. Hennes, son of Jacob, was born on March 13, 1890. He was baptized on April 7, 1890 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Lemont, Illinois. His godparents were Michael Hennes and Louisa Willmeng. He died on June 21, 1962 at Watervliet, Michigan. Michael was a retail drug merchant, being a part owner of Bernard Drugstore and manager of the Peck Drugstore.
Michael's World War I draft registration card, which was dated June 5, 1917, provided the following information concerning Michael. He was born on March 13, 1890, was self-employed as a druggist, was of medium height and stout build, had blue eyes and dark brown hair. Michael and Ruth lived at 308 Elmwood in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
He married on October 4, 1914 probably at Benton Harbor, Michigan to Ruth Minerva Olson, daughter of Oscar Olson and Elsie Minerva Reed. Ruth was born on December 1, 1892 at Hegewisch, Illinois. She died on February 23, 1983 at St. Joseph, Michigan. Michael was twenty-three at the time of his marriage and Ruth was twenty-one.
In 1920 Michael and Ruth were living at 308 Eleanor Place in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Michael was employed as a druggist. In 1930, the family was living at 711 Highland Avenue in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Michael was a retail drug merchant. His estate was valued at $6,000.
Michael and Ruth had two children.
- Virginia E. Hennes was born on September 30, 1916 in St. Joseph, Michigan. She died on September 17, 2000 in Traverse City, Michigan.
Virginia married on June 12, 1937 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Blake Patton, son of Maurice Patton and Tess (Theresa) Mooney. Blake was born on July 6, 1916 and died on April 28, 1994 at Benton Harbor, Michigan.
- Mary Hennes was born on June 4, 1920. She married on March 21, 1944 to Carl Garland.
