Michael Hennes and Anne Gillen's Family

Michael Hennes and Anna GillenMichael Hennes, son of Peter, was born on July 5, 1850 Silberberg, Germany. He died on December 28, 1928 at Lemont, Illinois. He was buried on December 31, 1928 in St. Alphonsus Cemetery at Lemont, Illinois. Michael's obituary reported that during his lifetime, he worked as a carpenter, but later in life he devoted himself to farming. According to the 1880 United State census, Michael was a farmer by profession. Michael was a member of the Catholic Knights of Illinois.

Michael married Anne Gillen. Anne was born on July 15, 1847 in Germany. She died as a result of a stroke on July 9, 1919 at Lemont, Illinois and is buried in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.

Michael and Anne had eight children. However only five survived to be enumerated in the various United States census returns.

  1. Peter Hennes was born on November 11, 1872 at Lemont, Illinois. Peter was baptized on November 15, 1872 in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Lemont, Illinois. His godparents were Peter Hennes and Margarethe Hommerding. He died on August 24, 1884 at Lemont, Illinois.

  2. Mary Hennes was born on August 27, 1874. She died on January 27, 1968 at Lemont, Illinois.

  3. John Peter Hennes was born on March 22, 1876 at Lemont, Illinois. He died on March 19, 1954.

  4. Anna Marie Hennes was born on March 10, 1878.

  5. Jacob Hennes was born on September 17, 1880. He was baptized on October 10, 1880 in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Lemont, Illinois. His godparents were Jacob Hennes and Catherine Friehauf. Jacob died on August 23, 1884 at Lemont, Illinois.

  6. Mathias Hennes was born on January 5, 1884. He was baptized on January 27, 1884 in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Lemont, Illinois. His godparents were Mathias Gillen and Margarethe Friehauf.

  7. Peter Hennes was born July 15, 1886. He died on October 12, 1974 at Lemont, Illinois.

  8. Carl Hennes was born on February 8, 1890. He was baptized on February 11, 1890 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Lemont, Illinois. His godparents were Carl Friehauf and Elisabeth Hennes. Carl died on November 17, 1927 from pneumonia. He was buried on November 20, 1927 in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Lemont, Illinois.

    Carl was a member of the Lemont Council of the Knights of Columbus, the order of W.C.U. and the Lemont Post of American Legion. He served in the United States armed forces during World War I.

    Carl married Stella Hulsebus. Stella may have been born in January of 1890. Her parents may have been Bernard Hulsebus and Minnie Jungknecht.
