John Peter Hennes, son of Michael, was born on March 22, 1876 at Lemont, Cook, Illinois. His obituary stated that his date of birth was March 21, 1876. He was baptized on March 27, 1876 in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Lemont. His godparents were John Schmidt and Marie Hostert. John died on March 19, 1954 at the age of seventy-seven. According to the 1910 United States census, John’s occupation was that of a house carpenter. In 1920 and 1930 he is a farmer.
John's World War I draft registration card, which was dated September 12, 1918, tells us that he was born on the date give above, that he was forty-two at the time of draft, that he was a self-employed farmer living at 1 RFD in Lemont, Illinois. He was described as of medium height and build with brown eyes and grey hair.
John married in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Lemont on May 17, 1905 to Clara A. Mathers, daughter of Albert Mathers and Mary [family name unknown]. Witnesses to their marriage were Peter Hennes, John Mathias, Maria Hennes and Catherine Friehauf. Clara was born on November 12, 1886 at Lemont and died there on March 13, 1954.
According to the 1920 United States census, Clara was thirty-three years of age. This would indicate that she was born about 1887. The 1900 United States census return reported that Clara was born in November of 1887.
John and Clara had five children.
- Marie Agnes Hennes was born February 17, 1906. She was baptized on March 11, 1906 in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Lemont. Her godparents were Michael Hennes and Maria Mather. She died on December 30, 1967 in Lemont.
Marie Agnes, also known as Mary, married Stanley (Stanislaw) Kravish, son of Walter Kravish and Catherine Elzbierta [sic] Domagalski. Stanley was born on July 16, 1905. It has been reported that he died on November 10, 1993 at Darien, DuPage, Illinois.
Marie and Stanley had five children: Rosemary, Richard, Leroy, Donna and Ron.
- Ann Marie Hennes was born March 8, 1911. She was baptized on March 26, 1911 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Lemont. Her godparents were John Mather and Anna Hennes. She died on September 20, 1983 at the age of seventy-two at Blue Island, Cook, Illinois.
Ann Marie married Leonard Boyles. From John C. Hennes’ obituary it appears that Ann Marie may have married a second time to a Mr. Freehauf.
- Clara Marie Hennes was born On March 23, 1913. She was baptized in Saint Alphonsus’ Catholic Church at Lemont on April 6, 1913. Her godparents were John Claussen and Mary Schmidt.
Clara married Walter G. Reich on October 22, 1930 at Crown Point, Lake, Indiana. The marriage was blessed in the rectory of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on March 7, 1931. The notation added to Clara’s baptismal records indicate that Walter was not Catholic.
At the time of this writing, the author believes that Walter was born on June 14, 1912 in Chicago, Cook, Illinois. His parents may have been Clarence F. Reich and Elsie L. [Family name unknown]. Walter died on July 21, 1995 at Cherry Valley, Winnebago, Illinois.
Clara and Walter had three children: Jeanette, Carole, and Gail.
- John Carl Hennes was born about 1916. He died at the age of eighty-five on January 13, 2002 at Plainfield, Will, Illinois. John served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was an accountant for Continental Can Co. He is buried in Fairmount Cemetery in Willow Springs, Cook, Illinois.
The United States Veterans Gravesites listed on http://www.ancestry.com states that John was born on March 11, 1916 and died on January 13, 2002.
John married Helen Brida, daughter of Peter Brida and Katherine . Helen died on January 26, 1993 in Celina, Tennessee at the age of seventy-six. This would indicate that Helen was born about 1917. She was buried on January 29, 1993 in Willow Springs Cemetery at Willow Springs.
John and Helen had one child: John P.
- Margaret Hennes was born about 1918.
Margaret married on October 2, 1936 at Lemont to Stanley J. Rimbo, son of George Rimbo and Mary [family name unknown]. Stanley was born November 16, 1910. He died on June 7, 1996 at Lemont, DuPage, Illinois.
Margaret and Stanley have three children: Don, Sue and Bonnie
