Magdalena married on December 18, 1837 in Saint Mark's Catholic Church at Ernzen, Germany to Nicholas Keifer, son of Nicholas Keifer and Anne Marie Binsfeld. Witnesses to their marriage were Antoine Welter and Bernard Welter.
Nicholas was from Cruchten (Kruchten), Germany. Nicholas' family name may have been spelt Kaüfer. Nicholas was born at midnight on April 25, 1812. He was baptized on April 26, 1812 in the Catholic Church at Cruchten (Kruchten), Germany.
Magdalena and Nicholas immigrated to America. They appear in the 1870 and 1880 United States census return for the Town of Virgil, Illinois. In the 1870 United States census return, Nicholas is reported to be a farmer. His real estate is valued at $2,400 and his personal estate is valued at $500. In 1880 Magdalena and Nicholas are living with their daughter, Catherine, and her family. Their relationship to Nicholas Schramer is given as father-in-law and mother-in-law. Their ages are given as sixty-eight and seventy-one respectively. These ages would correspond with the birth years of Nicholas and Magdalena.
Information found on the Internet site for Saints Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Virgil, Illinois indicated that Nicholas settled in Virgil about the year 1861. His son, John, and his son-in-law, Nicholas Schramer, were instrumental in establishing the parish of Saints Peter and Paul in Virgil, Illinois.
Magdalena and Nicholas has six children, all of whom were born in Cruchten, Germany.
Based on information found on the State of Illinois' Archive Internet site, John first married on or about April 22, 1867 to Anna Welter.
John and Anna had three children, Lena A., Anna, and Katie.
It appears that John married a second time about the year 1878 to a lady named Catherine. Catherine was born in March of 1858. She died from a hernia on June 6, 1940 at Virgil, Illinois. The 1910 United States census return for Virgil, Illinois indicated that John had been married twice. The 1900 United States census for Virgil indicated that John and his wife, Catherine, had been married for twenty-two years, thus indicating that their marriage took place in 1878. The 1900 census also indicated that Catherine came to America in 1868 and that she was able to read and write and to speak English. The 1910 census indicated that Catherine had no children. However, there was an adopted daughter, Mary G.
Peter married on October 11, 1869 to Barbary Zean. Barbary was born in March of 1842 in Prussia. Barbary died between 1900 and 1910.
Peter and Barbary had eight children: Helen, Mary, Caroline, Lizzie, Barbary, Nicholas John, susie, and Anna.
Catherine married in late 1869 or early 1870 to Julius Klemm, son of Peter Klemm and Mary Elizabeth -. Julius was born on April 8, 1842 in Baden, Germany. He died on May 20, 1921 in Pierce Township, DeKalb County, Illinois. Julius was a farmer by profession.
Catherine and Julius had eight children: Lena, Peter, Nicholas, Henry J., Albert, Paul, Edward Julius, and Rosa.

Nicholas and Catherine are listed in the 1918 Farmer's Directory for Kane County, Illinois. This listing reports that they lived in Virgil, Illinois. The following children are listed: Mary, Anna, Elizabeth, Julius, William H., Margaret, and Clara.
Catherine and Nicolas had nine children. The 1900 United States census for Virgil, Illinois tells us that Catherine and Nicholas had been married for about thirty years and that they had nine children but only seven survived to be recorded in the census.
