Ludwig Vogel, son of Simon, was born on
August 15, 1747 at Elsenheim, France. He was baptized the same day at the
Catholic Church in Elsenheim. He died at the age of fifty-eight on April 8,
1805 {18 Germinal 13} at Elsenheim, France. Ludwig is referred to as Louis in the official
French records. He was a farm laborer.
On October 21, 1776, Ludwig married Marie Anne Neff, daughter of
Joseph Neff and Catherine Meyer, at Elsenheim, France. Marie Anne was born on
April 27, 1750 at Elsenheim, France. She was baptized the same day in the
Catholic Church at Elsenheim. She died at the age of fifty-six on April 3,
1805 {13 Germinal 13} at Elsenheim, France.
Ludwig and Marie Anne has seven children, all of whom were born at Elsenheim,
France.
- Marie Anne Vogel who was born on February 21, 1778. She married Chretien
Cogler about 1804.
- Catherine Vogel who was born on January 4, 1780. She
died on July 26, 1839 at Guémar, France.
- Ludwig Vogel who was born on January 8, 1782. He died on January 9, 1782 at
Elsenheim, France.
- Elisabeth Vogel who was born on November 27, 1783. She died on February 23,
1826 at Guémar, France.
- Ludwig Vogel who was born about 1785. He is referred to as Louis in the
official French records. However, he signed his name as Ludwig. When Salomé
Gruss, Ludwig's niece, was born in 1817, Ludwig was a manservant or footman
and was living in Elsenheim, France. In 1819, when his nephew, Maximum Gruss,
was born, Ludwig was living in Guémar, France. In 1835, when his niece,
Elisabeth Gruss, was married, Ludwig was a tile maker by profession and lived
at Ribeauville, France.
- Unnamed Vogel (daughter) who was born and died on March 16, 1787.
- Marie Salomé Vogel who was born on October 14, 1789. She was
baptized the same day in the Catholic Church at Elsenheim.
