The Family of Pierre Neff and Catherine Briess

Pierre Neff, the oldest known member of this line of the Neff family, was born at Reiden, Switzerland. This is according to the information given in his marriage registration and the baptizmal records of his first four children. Pierre died on June 2, 1735 at Grussenheim, France. In all the documents connected with this family he is referred to as Petrus in the Church documents. He was a common laborer.

Pierre married on February 10, 1716 in the Catholic Church at Grussenheim, France to Catherine Briess, widow of Jean Weber. Catherine died on April 11, 1737 at Grussenheim, France.

Pierre and Catherine had six children, all of whom were born at Grussenheim, France.

1. Joseph Neff was born and baptized on February 22, 1717. He appears to have died prior to 1722.
2. Marie Elisabeth Neff was born and baptized on November 11, 1718.
3. Pierre Neff was born and baptized on April 19, 1720.
4. Joseph Neff was born on May 29, 1722.
5. Jean George Neff was born and baptized on April 20, 1724.
6. Catherine Neff was born and baptized on January 5, 1726. She died on April 25, 1735 at Grussenheim, France.
