The Family of Bernard Willmeng and Anastasia Richert

Bernard Willmeng, son of Bernard, was born on May 22, 1795 {3 Praireal 3} at Grussenheim, France. He signed his name as Bernhard Willmeng on the various French registrations. At various time during his life, he was a daylaborer, farmer, carpenter and village policeman. He lived in the Hintergäss section of Grussenheim.

Bernard married on August 30, 1819 at Grussenheim, France to Anastasia Richert, daughter of Joseph Richert and Barbet Brobst. Among the witnesses to their marriage were listed: François Joseph Schneider, Bernard's brother-in-law, Joseph Richert, Anastasia's father and Michel Richert, Anastasia's brother. Bernard was twenty-one at the time of his marriage to Anastasia. Based on her age, twenty-six, at the time of her marriage, she was born about 1793 apparently at Grussenheim, France.

Bernard and Anastasia had eight children, all of whom were born at Grussenheim, France.

  1. Joseph Bernard Willmeng was born on May 28, 1820. He died on June 28, 1900 at Lemont, Illinois.
  2. Gregoire Naziances Stanislai Willmeng was born on May 7, 1822. He died on September 2, 1893 at Benton Harbor, Michigan. He is reported to have come to America about 1855. He married Mary Oehlhaffer. Mary was born on April 2, 1824. She died on September 5, 1901. Gregoire was a weaver while living in France.
  3. Urban Remique Willmeng was born on May 24, 1824.
  4. Joseph Blaise Willmeng was born on February 2, 1826.
  5. Salomé Willmeng was born on December 28, 1827.
  6. Aloyse Stephen Willmeng who was born on August 3, 1829. He died on November 19, 1829 at Grussenheim, France.
  7. Jean George Willmeng who was born on January 1, 1831. He died on April 1, 1852 at Grussenheim, France.
  8. François Seraphine Willmeng who was born on January 3, 1834.

In various birth registrations, the family name was spelt Willmen.
