hello from cincinnati, ohio. i used to live in north portland and always loved it. before moving to portland, i lived in community in tacoma, washington in a big old house on south I st. i was in a volunteer corps there for a year. anyway, up until that year, i had never really thought about the paranormal or recalled any experience associated, thus, i did not "believe" in it. well, almost immediately after moving in things began to happen... i lived in the attic in the redone half of it. i was awakened at 4am every morning for two weeks by a strong presence... i felt that there was someone there standing in front of the bed. i am not one to wake up once i fall asleep. and eventually i became exhausted and told my co-workers what i was experiencing...this included unexplained changes made on my cd player where the songs switched order, replayed, etc. my alarm was messed with and then there were my room mates. i had six. five out of the six had experiences. one day we arrived home from a long weekend away and two of us were tired and took naps in the front tv room. we fell asleep on opposite sides of the room. all of a sudden we both woke up fast and frightened staring at the covered front porch where i finally witnessed a vision of the spirit that had been haunting me since i moved in. the attic was three floors above that porch(the unfinished side). yes, my room mate saw the same vision of a female nature in a flowing garment. another room mate of mine lived int he bedroom above the porch on the second floor. one night i awoke to pounding against a wall. my room mate was hitting the wall with his fist. he was so scared. there was nothing there that i could see but he felt the spirit invading his space and his reaction was to swing at it. he was the biggest skeptic in the house...this was his first experience. the girl that lived below him in the basement proved to experience the most frightening episodes. she awoke one evening to what she described as cats fighting outside of her basement window. it was a high pitched singing voice that she will never forget. she experienced her bed shaking several times and once she was asleep on her side facing the wall in her bedroom when she heard footsteps coming toward her room in the basement. the footsteps resounded all the way up to the edge of her bed. she was convinced that someone had broken into the house and she was too scared to move or scream. suddenly there was a weight on the side of the bed. a depression in the mattress that caused her body to move and roll toward the door only to see that no one was there. but her most memorable evening was still ahead...she was dead asleep on her stomach when she was awakened by the same sound of footsteps. this time she had no time to react. she immediately felt a weight on her back. she said that it covered her from head to toe heavily. she finally mustered the courage to look over her shoulder to find nothing there. she got up and ran all the way to my room in the attic on the third floor. when she reached me she could barely speak. she was literally in a state of shock. we went to the bathroom and splashed water on her face and she told me what happened. she said that the weight didn't leave her body until she reached the kitchen on the first floor. what is strange to me is that i was awakened right before she got to me by pans clashing in the kitchen(they hung from the ceiling in the middle of the kitchen and i know she did not hit them). after i told my co-workers about these experiences they referred me to a neighbor who supported all of the volunteers who came through and lived in the house....he had actually lived there too at one time. he leveled with me and told me that the house had a long history of activity and that they even had it exorcised by two priests before we had all arrived that year. in the past, they had a woman come visit who (i forget what they called her profession) told them that the spirit dwelled mainly in the south side of the attic and it was definitely a female spirit. the house was located directly behind a funeral home. actually, that was our back yard. their garage doors would open and we would occasionally see into that other world. they told us that the spirit was stuck and never let go or moved on and remained here haunting us. i never felt threatened by this spirit in the house, mainly annoyed. once i received the advice to invite that spirit into my circle of safety and prayer, i never really felt scared again. thanks for reading...
