3. Nobility of the North Seas to Helen of Galloway

 

1. Harold, Prince of Rogaland, who lived about the year 650 A.D.  He had a son, Eivar.

 

2. Eivar, Prince of Rogaland, who married and has a son, Vatnar.

 

3. Vatnar, Prince of Rogaland, whose second child was Hjald.

 

4. Hjald, married and had a son, Vedrar Grim.

 

5. Vedrar Grim, Earl of Sogne, about 800 A.D. married Herware, daughter and heiress of Thorgerde, son and heir of Eylung, Earl of Sogne.

 

6. Biorn Bune, Earl of Sogne, married Belang, daughter of Skaan-syvar-stelmi.

 

7. Ketel Flatness, Lord of the Hebrides.  He married Inguild, daughter of Ketel Wether of Romerike, and they had a daughter, Auda.

 

8. Auda the Deep-Minded.  She married Olaf the White of Dublin, who died in 871.  He was descended from Halfdan I. of Vestfold, who died in 750. After her husband's death, she settled in the year 892 at Hvamm, near Broadfirth, in the northwestern part of Iceland. This is in the Western Hemisphere!

 

9. Thorstein the Red, married Thurid, a descendant of Irish kings: Colam Mor, 1st Prince of Ossory, died in 575; Conal Cremthoinn, the first King of Meath, who died in 481; and of Duach, King of Connaught, who died in 502.  Their daughter was Groa.

 

10. Groa, married Duncan, Earl of Caithness, and they had a daughter, Grelod.

 

11. Grelod of Caithness, married Thorfinn I, Earl of Orkney, died in 963, a nephew of Rollo the Dane, Duke of Normandy, who married Lady Poppa. They had a son, Hlodver.

 

12. Hlodver, Earl of Orkney, died in 980, and is buried at Hofu in Caithness, married Audna, daughter of Carrol (Kierval), a king of Ireland, 872-887. They had a son Sigurd II.

 

13. Sigurd II, Earl of Orkney, died in 1014, married Alice (Anleta), daughter of Malcolm II, King of Scotland. They had a son, Thorfinn.

 

14. Thorfinn II, Earl of Orkney, born 999, died 1064, married Ingebiorg, daughter of Finn Arneson and his wife Thorbiorg (Bergliot) who was descended from the Earl of Uplands. They had a son, Paul.

 

15. Paul, Earl of Orkney, died 1103, married Ragnhild, daughter of Hakon I, King of Sweden, died 1079, and his wife Ragnihild of Norway. They had a son Hakon.

 

16. Hakon, Earl of Orkney, died 1122, married Helga, daughter of Maddon, Earl of Caithness. They had a daughter, Ingebiorg.

 

17. Ingebiorg of Orkney, married Olaf I, King of the Isle of Man, died 1154, son of King Godfred. They had a daughter, Ragnhild.

 

18. Ragnhild of Man, married in 1140 Somerled II, Lord of the Isles, who died in 1164. They had a son, Reginald.

 

19. Reginald, Lord of the Isles, died in 1207, married Fonia, daughter of Ranulph, Earl of Moray. They had a daughter, Ragnhild.

 

20. Ragnhild (Hilda) of the Isles, married Alan MacDonal, Lord of Galloway, died 1223, son of Roland, Lord of Galloway, died 1200, (and his wife, Elena Moreville), grandson of Elizabeth, who is said to be the daughter of William Rufus II, King of England. They had a daughter, Helen of Galloway.

 

21. Helen of Galloway, married Robert de Quincy, Earl of Winchester, died 1264, son of Surety Saire de Quincy.
