They're definitely luxury items, and you can expect to pay anywhere from $20,000 to $40,000 for spa and installation costs. (Installation costs can run high, because they're still something of a novelty item, and it can be hard finding a contractor in your area who knows how to install them.) And, of course, there is the monthly cost of maintaining and heating your swim spa. I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from buying one (in fact, I think they're pretty cool), but know what you're getting into ahead of time. Read the information and reviews over at ePinions (some people swear by their spas and others have installation nightmares to tell) before you go further. Decide if you have the money to spend and the patience to deal with the installation. In the long run, you'll probably enjoy not having to hit the public pool every time you want to do some laps, but make sure you're ready for the short term hassle of installing one in your home.
