Troubleshooting Swimming Pool Water Loss

Does your swimming pool seem to be losing water on a daily basis? Do you continually need to add more on a daily basis? If you think your pool's water loss is excessive (more than simple evaporation could account for), then you may have a leak.

If you have a vinyl pool, check the entire liner carefully. If there is a hole or a cut you can fix it yourself with a repair kit available from your local pool dealer or online.

If you don't have a vinyl pool or you can't find a leak in the lining, the most likely culprit is the main drain (this goes for all types of pools). Unfortunately, this is a problem that can only be fixed by a professional. Your pool service company should have sophisticated leak-detection systems, so they will be able to help you promptly. It's worth spending the money to have a pro come out because otherwise you will continue to lose money in the cost of replacing the water day after day.
