ANTIOCH METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH
(McGinnis Ferry and Bell Road)
Antioch Methodist Episcopal Church was built March 25, 1890, 200 feet south of Sheltonville, Georgia, where the old pioneers served for quite a few years. The first officers were Lewis Burns, Jordan Wells, Dan Jones, Tom and Marvin Strickland who served well in those days. The church was also used as a school building for a number of years. August 14, 1914, the church was burned to the ground. Through faith in God and fellowman, Jordan Wells set out to rebuild Antioch Church. He asked for and was given trees which he and his sons cut down and hauled to Green's sawmill where they were sawed into lumber. The church still stands in the same place.
