BETHANY CHURCH
(Alpharetta)
Bethany Baptist Church first met as a body on December 27, 1850. Present were the following twelve members:

Nancy Pilgrims
Elijah Pilgrims
Elizabeth Pilgrims
Elimina Pilgrims
Wilkinson Jameson
On that same day they adopted twelve Articles of Faith. These articles were dropped on August 31, 1867, when the church adopted the Articles of Faith of the Hightower Association.
On December 28, 1850, Samuel Oliver was ordained as the first deacon and was also the first Church Clerk.
The land on which the first church was built was donated by Wilkinson Jameson. The building was completed on August 20, 1851, and consisted of one room.
Brother H. Collins was the first minister to receive a donation from the church. He received $5.00 for the year 1855.
In 1908 a new church building was constructed.
On October 15, 1910, a Sunday School was begun. W. N. Williams was elected as Sunday School Superintendent. C. O. Stephenson was the assistant.
On March 16, 1916, S. Dodd was elected Church Treasurer. In the first quarter $1.25 was received.
