BIG CREEK PRIMITIVE BAPTIST CHURCH

The first Baptist Church in this community was established in 1828 in a log house just west of State Bridge Road on Big Creek, and named Big Creek Baptist Church.
It was moved to where Old Big Creek Cemetery is now, where it stood for some time. It was later moved to the present site of the Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church on Highway 120, and changed to the Primitive Baptist faith. Some time around 1868, those that wanted to continue as Missionary Baptists established Clear Springs and the others stayed on as Primitive Baptists.
