CLEAR SPRINGS BAPTIST CHURCH
2725 Kimball Bridge Rd., Alpharetta

Clear Springs beginnings were grounded and rooted in the goodness of the citizens of Alpharetta and their obedience to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are sure that many godly fearing leaders had their hands to the plow to bring her to inception, which we are truly grateful. Through humanitarian deeds toward her enslaved citizens, the church gives a decisive year of inception 1858, shortly after the formation of Milton County and a church covenant year of 1864, as shown on the cornerstone of the church.

The surnames of her earliest membership role, which five generations have thereafter served in her sanctuary are the Browns, Baileys, Clements, Cooks, Dinsmore, Dodd, Fowler, Grogan, Johnson, Hansard, Martin, Manning, Rogers, Rucker, Maxwell, Buice, Ridgeway, Strickland, Smith, Teasley and Turner.

Clear Springs members has been blessed and served by eighteen pastors. The ones prior to 1930 are Rev. Golston, Rev. Hooks, Rev. Phillips and Rev. J. H. Kirk, all prior to 1899. Known recorded data on church origins begin with Rev. Force (1899-1917), Rev. J. W. Smoots (1922-1928), Rev. H. Spears (1928-1930). The church relocated six times, since her inception. Old Maxwell Road is the first known location. The second location, Cumming Road, the oldest land deed of church record, dated 1898, reveals the purchase of a half acre for $50.00 from the Isham Teasley old homestead. The church acquired its name from a clear spring of water, next to the church, where her members were baptized.
