CRABAPPLE BAPTIST CHURCH
On November 26, 1892, a group of twenty one Crabapple community leaders got together with the intent of forming a Baptist Church. Four ministers of the gospel were appointed: M. Persell, J. D. Harris, E. Cochran and William West. J. D. Gentry elected spokesman and D. W. DeVore was elected secretary.
After prayer by Brother West those present were given an invitation to come forward to present letters and enroll as charter members. They were as follows:

E. E. Broadwell donated one-half acre to built a church, February 11, 1893. A committee was organized to draw up plans for the handmade brick building which cost $675. The original building faced Broadwell Road, and was built out of handmade bricks, using clay and water from the stream running on the land.
J. W. Broadwell donated one and one-half acres on December 27, 1895.
In February, 1894, the first Sunday School was organized with James Tatum as superintendent. In the early 1900’s a committee was chosen to visit members who danced (called on the carpet). Baptisms were held in creeks. In the 1920’s, the first piano was purchased and in the 1930’s land was purchased for a cemetery.
