CROSS PLAINS BAPTIST CHURCH
Services were held in an arbor until the church house could be built. The first pastor was Rev. B. B. Sargent who was ordained into the ministry on March 30, 1879, at Enon Baptist Church in Haralson County. In the conference of August 6, 1881, the church was given the name of Cross Plains Baptist; also in this conference a building committee was appointed for the purpose of building a church on the land given by Samuel A. Wasson and Henry Floyd Anglin. This committee was composed of G. S. Sargent, E. Ellis, S. A. Wasson and Thomas Vaughan. They heard the Petitionary letter to the Hightower Association, which was received. In this conference a call for contributions for the minister made up one dollar. They agreed that the third Sabbath be their regular meeting day.

The Church withdrew from the Hightower Association in 1887, then joined the Roswell Association.
Sunday School was organized in December of 1891 with 45 members and 5 teachers. Wm. T. Swanson was the Superintendent. By September of 1892 there were 52 members in the Church.
The oldest marked grave in the cemetery is that of Samuel A. Wasson who was buried in 1897.
