Seated are my ggg grandfather-James M. Allen ( b.
June 13, 1828 d. Nov. 3, 1899) and ggggrandmother-Miller Francinay Tedder ( b.
Oct. 5, 1830 d. Feb.11,1918); standing is their daughter my gggrandmother
Menervie Elizabeth Allen who married G.W. "Rowe"
Benton. James M. Allen served in the
Confederate Army he enlisted as Private on May 3, 1862 in Company G, 56th
Infantry Regiment of Georgia. He was taken prisoner on July 4, 1863 at
Vicksburg MS; paroled on July 8, 1863 at Vicksburg, surrendered April 26, 1865
at Greensboro NC. After James' death, his widow, "Millie F." collected his
pension. He is recorded in Forsyth then Milton
County Census records as follows: Forsyth

James and Miller are buried at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, now in
Forsyth County/was old Milton County. Beside them is buried Joseph Benton
_ I believe the son-in-law who married their daughter, Armida.
