Will Jones (born June 9, 1877, died May 27, 1942) was raised on a farm located on what is now Morrison Parkway and the Honda building. He married Annie Mae Jackson on November 27, 1910. Will and his brother, Major Harrison Jones, purchased a store on the corner of South Main St. that later became the first Louie E. Jones funeral home. Restaurants were later located there. They purchased it for $1600. They ran this general mercantile store until Harrison died in 1918.
Will continued running the store until about 1927 when the big depression closed him down. He bought out a grocery store from Epp Moore on the corner across from the old Milton County Courthouse. At lunch he sold hot dogs, egg, ham and cheese sandwiches which he cooked on a four burner kerosene stove. He had no running water so he carried it in a bucket from Brady's service station which was across the street from the store. He sold out in 1941 due to ill health and passed away on May 27, 1942.
