Youth Activities
Boy Scout and Cub Scout Troops 192 Liaison
- Our Council seeks opportunities to support the programs that our Parish has in place. The goal of the committee would be to stay apprised of the Scouts activities and seek opportunities for the Knights to help personally or financially in the conduct of these very worthwhile youth programs.
Free Throw Championship
- This program is open to all boys and girls aged 10-14. The committee is responsible for acquisition of materials, advertising, and conducting the Parish level Free Throw, held at St. Theresa's School. The committee recognizes the winners and all participants in the Council Free Throw and then coordinates the participation of the winners in the District Free Throw, Regional Free Throw, and State Free Throw. This program is great fun for the youth and the Knights who participate.
2004 Free Throw Championships
Scholarship/Essay Committee
- Each year, the Council conducts a scholarship contest for all St. Theresa School students planning on attending Trinity High School. The contest is based on a list of all of the student's activities and an essay answering the question "Why is Continuing My Catholic Education Important to Me". The winner receives a $500 scholarship toward the first year of school at Trinity. The committee is responsible for sending out notice of the competition, receiving and judging the entries, and selecting a winner.
St. Theresa's School Award
- - At the eighth grade graduation ceremony each year, our Grand Knight or Youth Chairman presents an award to the Most Improved Boy and Most Improved Girl student at the School. These winners are selected by the teaching staff and administration of the school and each winner receives an appropriate acknowledgement from the Council at graduation.
Trinity High School Award
- Each year, our council contributes $25 to Trinity High School for the purchase of special recognition pin and award for service to the high school's publications during that year. The council is recognized in the graduation program and the student receives the pin and the award during the graduation ceremony. Service to publications includes monthly student newsletters and the yearbook; it is hoped that these winners may go on to contribute positively to publications in our community after their education is completed.
