Setup Tab Section
Now to begin a basic setup of your Linksys router. I will only cover the sections that you need to go to and change whatever
options.
Setup tab You should see a picture something like below. There isn't much to do here, except to check the following things are in place.
The 'Host Name' and 'Domain Name' should be empty. 'WAN Connection Type' should be set to Obtain an IP automatically.
Password tab Change the default 'admin' password to something else. UPnP Services should be disabled unless you need it (this guide assumes
that you don't).
DHCP tab 'DHCP Services' should be set to Enabled. I recommend 'Starting IP address' set to 50 (192.168.1.50). 'Number of DHCP Users'
should be set to 1. Unless you have more computers come and go like laptops or want other desktop computers to be assigned IP
addresses dynamically, change the number of DHCP users to reflect how many you want the router to issue out.
