Here are a few things I like to mention before you read the review of mine:
- All pictures found in this review guide are taken by Kodak DX3600 digital camera unless stated otherwise.
- This review will not go into massive technical details. There's already a review that takes a look at many technical angles
and details of the Kodak DX3600. Go to Imaging
Resource's Kodak DX3600 Review and read it there.
Before I got my Kodak DX3600 digital camera, I ordered from
Dell a whopping Kingston 256 MB CompactFlash memory on January 4, 2002. Here's a picture of the memory card compared to a
quarter:
Bought the memory first, because I got it for $79.96 after discounts (tax free!) and mail-in rebate. Retail price on this 256 MB
CompactFlash goes anywhere from $100 to $250. I then got my dad to let me go ahead and order the Kodak DX3600 online from
Staples on January 29, 2002. At the time,
Staples and most other places were selling the Kodak DX3600 digital camera for
about $299.99, give or take a few cents. I had Staples price match the digital
camera at $255.93 from some online store and the total after tax is $267.45. Better than to use the $40 coupon, which didn't surface
the past couple of days, because it would've dropped the price to $259.98. Saved a few dollars on price matching. Love their 110%
price matching policy.
I also got the Kodak
Camera Dock as well. I got it for $59.98 (after a $20 coupon) and the total after tax is $62.68. Total spent: $330.13 versus
retail pricing at any electronics local store of $397.06 after taxes (camera = $299.98; Kodak Camera Dock = $79.98). Saved $66.93.
Free shipping too on both products ordered.
Here's a picture from Kodak's website of the Kodak DX3600 and the Kodak Camera Dock:
The digital camera and Kodak Camera Dock should be delivered to me on February 5th, which I'll be home all day (no class on
Tuesday) to await for its arrival. Of course, these are pending orders, so hopefully, it can get here on February 5th. After it
does, my 256 MB CompactFlash memory will be happy with the digital camera.
On Wednesday night (January 30, 2002), I checked with the UPS tracking system and I found that the digital camera & Kodak
Camera Dock were somewhere in Maryland (although not together in one spot). But when I looked at the predicted arrival, the digital
camera was presumed to come on Friday, and the Kodak Camera Dock to come on Thursday. It seems strange for the digital camera to
come one day later when it's just right across my state's border. The digital camera should've arrive on Thursday.
Thursday, January 31, 2002 came by. I had no class at college that day, so I'm all set ready to receive my package from UPS
later that day. When I woke up, I was disappointed that my cable modem lost synch, thus I no Internet connection to check the
status of my shipments. I wanted to check on the status so much, but I just couldn't get on the Internet. No Internet connection
for the whole day. When I looked out the window around 2 PM, I saw the UPS truck came by. I looked at the guy and he unloaded two
boxes. That's when I knew that the digital camera has arrived with the Kodak Camera Dock. This was awesome. I then went to the front
door, got my packages, thanked the UPS delivery guy, and brought the boxes up to my room and stripped the boxes down and setup the
digital camera and the Kodak Camera Dock.
