measure from top of shoulder to end of desired length (for fitting dresses also measure waist)	measure dress from top of shoulder seam to bottom hem

Measuring for Shoes (better too big than too small)
from end of the heel to the tip of big toe (add 1/4" to allow for socks) (add additional 1/4" to 1/2"  for French shoes to allow for unfilled toe area	measure same areas of the shoe

Measuring for a Bonnet (better too big than too small)
measure loosely from one end of the ear lobe to the other	measure shoes heel to toe and at widest point
