Holy Spirit's staff members and deacon wives gathered at the home and back yard of Deacon Bill and Joni Drobick in August 2011, for the annual staff team building and offsite workshop and retreat.

The two full day agenda consisted of a presentation from Fr. Robert Herbst from Canon Law / Marriage Tribunal department of the Oakland Diocese; presentation and discussion of the New Roman Missal; discussion of what the parish did well last year; and brain-storming new goals for 2012.

Parish Secretary

Vanessa Barrett and her husband Ed have been members of Holy Spirit for over 15 years. They have two children... a boy & a girl ages 12 & 14. Vanessa has been involved in numerous parish organizations, such as Art-N-Environment Chair, M.O.M.S. Chair and Girl Scouts Leader. In the recent past, she was very involved with the school... such as coordinator of the Annual Crab Feed and Fine Arts. She was the School Newsletter Editor and a member of the School Board. On December 1, 2010, Vanessa joined the staff as Parish Secretary and bulletin editor.

Business Manager

Jeff Van der Sluis is married to his wife Debora for 30 years. They moved to Fremont over twenty years ago, and Debora joined the Parish shortly thereafter. Jeff converted to Catholicism about 11 years ago. Both of their Children graduated from Holy Spirit School. He has been President of the Holy Spirit School Board. His background includes Retail and Operations Management, and his passion is Consumer Electronics and hiking. Jeff joined the staff on December of 2010.

Director of Religious Education

Deacon Bill Drobick is the director of the Faith Formation department (formally called CCD). He coordinates the confirmation program and volunteer classroom teachers to provide Catholic education to public school students. Since Deacon Steve Taylor moved from Fremont in April 2011, Deacon Bill is now is the director of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults program. He is full of enthusiasm as he steps-in after his predecessor.

Director of Sacred Music

Kerey Quaid is in charge of all liturgical music at our Masses & funerals.  He cantors at several masses and leads the choir at the 11:00am Mass.   He leads the children's choir. Kerey plays the organ, piano, recorder and other instruments. Recently, Kerey received his Master of Theological Studies Degree.

Holy Spirit School Principal

Joining us in September 2007, Susan Buchanan is our school principal. Orginally from the suburbs of Chicago, Susan has been teaching in Catholic elementary and high schools since 1970. She was a principal for 6 years in Arcata & Benicia, CA, before coming to Holy Spirit.

Holy Spirit Preschool Director

Michele Filice is the Preschool Director. Michele and Mark have been married for 27 years and have a daughter, Melissa, who is attending college.  They have lived in Fremont since 1988 and been members of the Parish for over 20 years.  Michele has a BS in Accounting from Santa Clara University. She has been a preschool teacher and director for 8 years.

Bookkeeper

Jennifer Fields' office is located in the DeSousa House. She is our bookkeeper and maintains the parish and school facilities master electronic calender.
