NEW BUSINESS:

Election of Officers – after some discussion is was decided to go ahead with elections; otherwise we would have to put it off until November.  Teri nominated Yvonne to continue as Chair and Voni seconded.  Yvonne nominated Elsie to continue as Co-Vice Chair and Don volunteered to be Co-Vice Chair also.  Voni volunteered to be Secretary and Teri volunteered to be a backup.

Consultative Body Working Retreat Day – Veronica handed out a letter for all Council and Commission members outlining the details of this retreat on October 29.  Liturgy commission members will provide brownies.

Advent Preparation – We will have a preliminary planning session on October 14 at 1:00 pm.  Elsie, Voni, Jane, Yvonne and Veronica volunteered to attend.  Joyce and Gay will also be involved.

Questions and Concerns for this Year – Veronica is considering a 4part series on the Eucharist she developed with Carla Caldwell.  This would probably be presented during Lent.  Also during Lent we will reinstate Friday Stations of the Cross and soup and bread supper.  There was much discussion about when to schedule events with the consensus that there really is no good day of the week as all are busy.  Evenings are hard for some who don’t drive at night so we will need to make an effort to offer transportation in order not to exclude anyone.

Community Meeting – September 19 at 7:00 pm in the Social Hall.  Father would like all members of councils and commissions to attend if possible.  The discussion will be about the proposed renovations for the rectory, new office space, classroom space, new music ministry space and possible new church.

Hispanic Mass – Every Sunday at 7:00 pm; Bishop Eusebio attended the first on Sept. 4, Fr. Jack and Fr. David concelebrated.  We may be asked to integrate some of these people into the parish in the areas of sacramental preparation (religious education) here at Holy Trinity.  Baptism and marriage preparation would take place at St. Olaf’s.  Many speak different dialects and not all speak Spanish.

BREAK – Nibbles provided by Teri Bray (Thanks Teri, we love the lumpia)

OLD BUSINESS

Parish Directory – We are requested to gather on Sunday, October 2 at 1:00pm for a group picture for the new directory.  Clothing should be neutral; however, feather boas are optional!!

Bulletin Board – Individual pictures and biographies for the councils and commissions have been displayed in the lobby of the religious education wing.  Our display has been put on hold as Fr. Jack is currently using the bulletin boards to display the “Dream Team’s” proposed renovations.

Usher Meeting – Bob Ramirez left Yvonne a message that he is still trying to meet with the ushers and become their liaison with the commission.

MINISTRY REPORTS

Environment:  Gay is planning a fall wreath and the cornucopia again

EMs:  Still have the same number; seems like for every new one trained someone else drops out.  Veronica passed out a letter sent to all EMs regarding outreach and the need for more help to assist people who are unable to attend mass.

Greeters:  We currently have about 260-270

Lectors:  Everything is status quo at the present time

Music:  Music ministry is having its retreat today which Joyce, Sheila and Dave are attending.  Sept 17/18 will be “Super” Sunday for the choir to recruit new members.  All choir members will sing at all the masses.  Request will be made for the choir to prepare new acclamations, possibly seasonal, since the current one has been in use for several years now.

STUDY TIME

Video on the “History of the Mass” shows that some of the changes we are currently experiencing go back to the original church.  We realize change is hard and that not all parishes in the diocese are conforming much less around the country, so it is difficult to know what to do when.  Yvonne suggested that this video could be used as the topic for a one time only parish training session, possibly during Lent.

NEXT COMMISSION MEETING:  November 12, 2005 (9:00am – 11:30am)

OPENING PRAYER:  Veronica Kelley

CLOSING PRAYER:  Yvonne

NIBBLES:  Don
