Chapter Six: I Hate It (Amin Yelta Ta)
Legolas was at a loss for words. Everyone knew who he was, but how?
They all seemed to know more about himself than he did. And how come every
one he met reminded him of someone from the fellowship? He'd come to Middle-earth
to escape his memories, not to confront them. Suddenly he just wanted,
more than anything else, to leave Middle-earth again, the prince wanted
to go home, home to Valinor. Home to his family, his friends, his castle,
his room. Hell, he even wanted the servants he normally hated because they
never left him alone. He just didn't want to be here, in this strange new
world.
A hand on his shoulder tore him out of his thoughts, "Are you all right?"
Sam asked cautiously.
"Yes... Fine," Legolas stuttered, "But could you, do you think... I
need to be alone for a bit."
Sam smiled kindly, "All right, come on, let's go." The other hobbits
bid their farewells and followed Sam out of the elf's room
But surprisingly, Nessa did not leave with them. She stayed behind,
only for a moment, but Legolas thought he saw a look of pity and understanding
in her eyes. Only for a second, and then it was gone, as she turned to
leave.

Hours later the elf still hadn't come out of his room, and he refused
to speak with anyone, even Gandalf. If anyone knocked on the door he just
yelled at them to go away, no matter what they said he wouldn't unlock
the door and let them in. Frankly, it was starting to worry them. Elessar
decided to take one more try before he gave up and let the hobbits break
in through the window.
Cautiously he knocked on the door, "Go away! I said I didn't want to
talk!" Came the elf's voice through the door.
"Legolas, you can't stay in there forever, please let me in," He pleaded
through the wood.
"I can stay in here longer than you think!"
Elessar sighed, "You have to come out to eat."
"Not for a long time I don't! I can go far longer than humans without
food!"
"Please, Legolas, I just want to talk."
"I don't want to talk, I want to go home!" His voice cracked, as if
he were crying.
Now the king reincarnate was worried, "Legolas... What's wrong?"
"Nothing makes sense here, nothing at all. Everything's changed, I don't
get it!"
"Do you want to talk about it, Legolas?" It was more of a plea than
a question.
Silence.
A click. The door was unlatched, it swung open by itself as Legolas
sat back down on the bed. Elessar shut it and sat down next to the elf,
who refused to look at him. He took the elf's chin in his hand and turned
his head, forcing the elf to look up at him. Legolas' face was streaked
with tears, even as Elessar looked on a lone tear found it's way down his
face. the human wiped it away gently with his thumb, "What's this now,
the brave prince of Mirkwood crying?"
"Not as brave as you'd think," The elf sniffed, pulling his face away
from the man and drawing his sleeve across his nose in a very unprince-like
manor.
"You traveled all the way across the sea by yourself to face a world
you haven't seen for thousands of years. For all you knew it could have
been gone, and you'd be lost at sea forever," The man said, placing a comforting
hand on the elf's shoulder, "I'd say that's pretty brave."
"You... you think so?" The elf questioned, tuning back to the
human.
"Would I lie to you?" The elf didn't answer, "Would Aragorn lie to you?"
He shook his head and whispered, "No... But..."
"No buts," Elessar interrupted, "Legolas, I am Aragorn. I'm his descendant,
and his reincarnation. You can trust me."
Legolas stared longingly towards the man, before flinging him self into Elessar's arms. He buried his face in the man's shirt and cried, 'Estel...'
