SEPTEMBER -
2009 STATUS REPORT
----------------------------------
Hudson Lake Conservation Association
September 5, 2009
Dear Members,
Our
major thrust is to manage the proper mix of plants in Hudson Lake to
provide all of us with a clean and healthy lake. The management of
aquatic plant species includes eradicating the invasive and destructive
plants that will kill off the good plants. Only by preserving the
correct amount of the right plants can our lake water be adequately
purified and oxygenated. The fish, wildlife and we, the people who use
the lake, benefit a great deal from having a clear and beautiful lake.
Lake restoration specialists are hired to identify and to map the
locations of all the species of plants. Herbicidal treatment
specialists are then hired to reduce the invasive and destructive
plants, such as the Eurasian Water Milfoil, to keep them all in check.
The approximate total cost of these programs is $15,000 per year.
Over the last 5 years, our association has acquired grants from the
Indiana Department of Natural Resources to cover the cost of 90%
(approx. $13,500 per year). However, we are obligated to pay the
remaining 10% ($1,500) each year, from our members’ annual fees. These
programs are designed to manage the quality of our lake
The
members of our association are the ones who fund the programs. Through
the membership fee of $25 once a year per couple, we have been able to
continue these programs. This is why I am obligated to ask you to pay
your membership fee each year, when it becomes due.
May
31, 2009 was when this year’s fees became due. If you have not yet
been contacted or have not yet paid your fees this year, please send
your $25 check to me today. Make your check out to: Hudson Lake
Conservation Association. We need each member’s fee to ensure
that future programs can continue every year.
I
want to thank you for your earlier contributions; and, I hope you will
remain committed to our mission of keeping Hudson Lake as healthy as it
can be into the future.

We ask that all new members
print out and complete a copy of our Membership Roster
