Landscape Paintings

I label this style of painting as vivid realism. The paintings are of sublime landscapes of the Sierra Nevada mountain range and the western deserts. I attempt to capture the uncommon view of nature through careful observation of form, color and the careful rendering of it. The paintings also tend to show a raw stark beauty. In some paintings the color is altered slightly to heighten the impression of the scenes, yet not distort the subtle natural beauty. Most of the back country scenes or from the alpine zone above 10,000 feet. This is where the peaks reach for the sky and summer snow melt to feed the rivers.
