MCMINIS/MCMENIS/MEANS/MANUS: I am searching for parents of my gg grandmother Rutha MCMINIS or a variation. She married my gg grandfather Elias CRAFT in Morgan County, Alabama in 1835. Their marriage license states Rutha MCMINIS. She was born in TN (possibly Monroe County). The same CRAFT family lived in Monroe County, Alabama after leaving Darlington, S.C. and before moving to Alabama. Rutha's birth year is 1817. There could be a possible connection between Rutha and Joseph and Mary Ann MCMENIS/MEANS who married ALFORD siblings from Morgan County Alabama. Cenus records show Joseph and Mary Ann were also born in TN. Joseph was born in 1821 and Mary Ann in 1825. Family lore says Rutha was Cherokee.
