Glenn Chismore, the seven-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Chismore sustained serious and perhaps fatal injuries when he was kicked and trampled by a horse which he was leading about 8 yesterday morning. The child went out to lead the horse to water and it is supposed that, in play, the animal struck him with its hoofs. No one saw the accident, the boy being found unconscious in the barnyard some time after. Although he was unconscious all day yesterday, Drs. Fuller and Finnemore, who attended him, stated that they believed he would recover.5

Mr. and Mrs. Chismore's Golden Wedding
Former Canton Couple Celebrate at West Potsdam
Friends and Neighbors Then Tender
Them a Reception At Potsdam Church
Canton friends and former neighbors of Mr. and Mrs. Walton E. Chismore lear with pleasure of the recent celebration held at their West Potsdam home marking their Golden Wedding Anniversary, which occurred November 28th and then on Monday evening, the 26th, the West Potsdam friends gave them a reception at the Methodist church in Potsdam.
For many years the family resided here in Canton. Mr. Chismore being a teamster and hauling gravel and filling for one of Canton's first cement sidewalks, laid by Gordon Day. This was about 1904. He often worked for Dean Delance and other contractors. When the late Thomas Peggs was in the monument business he worked for him and also drew the stone for the ornamental wall fronting the Kip residence on Chapel street. Prior to living in Canton he had driven teams on lumber jobs, totting between Potsdam and Tupper Lake.
Mr. and Mrs. Chismore come of old stock. Mrs. Chismore was Edith Elnore, daughter of Milan and Sophronia Allen Petterson, and was born in Madrid, Dec. 10, 1870. She was married to Walton E. Chismore on Nov. 28, 1884, at the Canton Methodist parsonage by Rev. Brown. Mr. Chismore was a Vermonter, the son of John W. and Hulda Huntress Chismore, and was born Sept. 22, 1860.
Seven children were born to them, two of them, sons, dying in infancy. Another son, Glenn, the youngest, died at the age of sixteen on Dec. 16, 1922.
Twenty-two years ago Mr. Chismore gave up teaming for farming, leaving Canton at that time and occupying the Pinnemore farm, later the Perkins farm, and other places, eleven years ago buying his present place at West Potsdam. Both are devoted memberes of the Methodist church.
A week ago Sunday members of their family and others, thirty-two all together, joined with them at dinner at their home in honor of the Golden Wedding anniversary. Present were their four daughters: Mrs. H. W. Weigle of Oswegatchie, Mrs. R. S. Snow of Ogdensburg, Mrs. Walter Golson and Mrs. Leo Maroney of Canton, and their families as well as Mrs. Carrie Cornell of Canton, Mrs. Nettie Bemis, Chase Mills, William Peterson, West Potsdam, all of whom are brothers and sisters of Mrs. Chismore. One brother, Charles Peterson, of Alburg, Vt., and a sister, Mrs. Delia McCue, of Princeton, Minn., were uanble to attend. ...6
28 November 1934 was their golden wedding anniversary.6 He resided at Potsdam, St. Lawrence County, New York, on 22 September 1940.1
