     Emily Elizabeth Dickinson The Poetess was born at Amherst, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, on 10 December 1830.1 She was the daughter of Emily Norcross.1 Emily Elizabeth Dickinson The Poetess died of Bright's disease at Amherst, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, on 15 May 1886 at age 55.2

Emily Dickenson is considered one of the most influential poets in American history. During her lifetime she published only a few poems, though her writing career produced over 1700 poems (all published posthumously).
