William Frank Hanscom was born at Strafford, Strafford County, New Hampshire, on 5 March 1842.1,2 He was the son of Capt. Samuel B. Hanscom and Mary A. Huntress. William Frank Hanscom married, first, on 1 August 1860, at age 18, Emily Tasker, age 17, daughter of Seth Tasker and Rosanna Watson. He married, secondly, Nellie A Brown on 28 August 1877. William Frank Hanscom died of chronic dysentery at Lynn, Essex County, Massachusetts, on 28 May 1896 at age 54.3
He resided at Barnstead, Belknap County, New Hampshire.2 William Frank Hanscom was a shoemaker.2 He was a soldier in the Civil War (18th N.H. Vol. Inf.). He, age 22, enlisted in the Civil War Union Army on 9 September 1864 as a Corpl.4 William F.
