Hanscom mustered in the Civil War in Company G, 8th New Hampshire Infantry, inducted as a Corporal, discharged as a Sergeant.⁵ On 25 March 1880 Daniel D. Hanscom applied for a Civil War invalid pension for service in Company G and A of the 8th New Hampshire Infantry.⁶ He was living 1925.³

     Capt. Samuel B. Hanscom was born at Strafford, Strafford County, New Hampshire, on 17 April 1817.¹ He was the son of Ebenezer Hanscom and Mary Willey. Capt. Samuel B. Hanscom married at Strafford, Strafford County, New Hampshire,, on 6 May 1838, at age 21, Mary A. Huntress, age 25, daughter of Gideon Walker Huntress and Mary A Kelly.² Capt. Samuel B. Hanscom died at Merrimac, Essex County, Massachusetts, in November 1901 at age 84.

     Sarah M. Hanscom was born (twin) at Strafford, Strafford County, New Hampshire, on 3 April 1848.¹ She was the daughter of Capt. Samuel B. Hanscom and Mary A. Huntress. Sarah M. Hanscom married on 24 December 1863, at age 15, Perley A. Coombs, age 23. Sarah M. Hanscom died on 6 December 1920 at age 72.

     Thomas Hanscom married Tamsen Gowell.¹

     Verne S. Hanscom was born on 4 February 1903.³ He was the son of Elmore Hanscom.² Verne S. Hanscom married on 4 November 1929, at age 26, Lura Wentworth Huntress, age 18, (both) of Berwick, daughter of Howard William Huntress and Lois Mary Page.^4,5,6 Verne S. Hanscom died in April 1972 at age 69.³

     William Frank Hanscom was born at Strafford, Strafford County, New Hampshire, on 5 March 1842.^1,2 He was the son of Capt. Samuel B. Hanscom and Mary A. Huntress. William Frank Hanscom married, first, on 1 August 1860, at age 18, Emily Tasker, age 17, daughter of Seth Tasker and Rosanna Watson. He married, secondly, Nellie A Brown on 28 August 1877. William Frank Hanscom died of chronic dysentery at Lynn, Essex County, Massachusetts, on 28 May 1896 at age 54.³
     He resided at Barnstead, Belknap County, New Hampshire.² William Frank Hanscom was a shoemaker.² He was a soldier in the Civil War (18th N.H. Vol. Inf.). He, age 22, enlisted in the Civil War Union Army on 9 September 1864 as a Corpl.⁴ William F. Hanscom mustered at New Hampshire in the Civil War in Company F, 18th New Hampshire Infantry, inducted as a Private, discharged as a Corporal.⁵ On 5 December 1896, Nellie, widow of William F. Hanscom, who served in Company F of the 18th New Hampshire Infantry, filed for a Civil War widows pension from the state of Massachusetts.⁶
