Rev. George G. Huntress
     Rev. George G Huntress was born at Haverhill, Essex County, Massachusetts, on 5 June 1921.2,1,3 He was the son of George Gardner Huntress and Elizabeth Ida O'Neil.1 Rev. George G Huntress died of respiratory failure at Melrose, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, on 13 January 1990 at age 68.2,3 He was buried at St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts.3
      He was ordained in 1946 and served as an associate pastor at the Immaculate Conception parish in Winchester, St. Mary's parish in Billerica, and St. Columbkille parish in Brighton, where he spent 14 years.
Father Huntress served at St. Margaret's parish in Brockton from 1965 until 1971, when he became an administrator at the Most Blessed Sacrament parish. Three years later, he was named the pastor there.3 He attended Boston College and graduated from St. John's Seminary in Brighton.3 Rev. George G Huntress was a pastor at the Most Blessed Sacrament parish, Wakefield, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, between 1974 and 1990.3

Dies at Age 78
The former chief deputy of the
Bexar County Sheriff's Department,
who had served the county
more than 58 years, died early
Sunday in Santa Rosa Medical
Center, apparently of a liver
ailment.
George W. Huntress, 78, of
1803 W. Gramercy Place, was
chief deputy from 1947 until his
retirement in May of 1968.
The well-known public figure
began his career with the county
at 18, when he became vault
clerk for Dist. Clerk Andres
Coy.
From that job to one in the
county tax collector's office,
Huntress' career progressed
through service with the city tax
office, back to the district
clerk's office, a return to the
city as secretary to Mayor O. B.
Black in 1920, back to the office
of Dist. Atty. D. A, McAskill, to
the county clerk's office, then on
to commissioners clerk in 1928.
Huntress left that post for an
unsuccessful campaign seeking
the office of justice of the peace.
He worked for a brief time for
the county attorney, then in 1932
he was elected county clerk and
re-elected in 1934.
Huntress left public life in
1936, but returned in 1940 as a
deputy for the late Sheriff Owen
Kilday and in 1947 was named
chief deputy.
He was a member of the Bexar
Bowling Club; Siemering
Lodge No. 32 Hermann Sons;
Christopher Columbus Italian
Society; Italia-American Club;
Beethoven Maennerchor and the
Austrians Society.
Rosary will be recited in the
Georgian Chapel of the Porter
Loring Mortuary at 7:30 p.m.
Monday.
Funeral services will be held
at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Porter Loring.
Pallbearers will include
Sheriff Bill Hauck and Chief Deputy
Rudy Garza.
Honorary pallbearers will be
all employees of the Bexar
County Sheriff's Department,
and members of the San Antonio
Police Department.
Burial will be in Mission Burial
Park.
Huntress is survived by his
wife, Mary, a brother, former
Bexar County clerk Fred Huntress;
one nephew and two
nieces.10
He resided at San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, on 24 May 1970.5
