     Hon. Harriet Lane Huntress was born at Centre Harbour, Belknap County, New Hampshire, on 30 December 1860.3,2 She was the daughter of Capt. James Lewis Huntress and Harriet Perkins Towne Paige.2 Hon. Harriet Lane Huntress died unmarried, of Spinal Cancer (10 months) resulting from Uterine Cancer (4 years) at 83 Pleasant Street, Concord, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, on 31 July 1922 at age 61 years, 7 months and 1 day.2 She was buried at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Watertown, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, on 3 August 1922.2
      Huntress Hall at Keene Teachers College and the Huntress Fund of N.H. Education Association Grant 15-20 $50 - $300 were named after her.1 She resided at Concord, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, between 1889 and 1922.2 Hon.     She worked for ten years for Northland Shoe Company, and was also co-owner of Mainly Automotive in Fryeburg. She was a former member of the Fryeburg Fire Department Auxiliary. She enjoyed hunting, and racing and street rods.

    Her family includes her husband of 34 years, Lee C. Day; a son, Corey Day; and a daughter, Kelly Day, all of Fryeburg; a brother, Ronald Huntress of Pawtucket, R.I.; two sisters, Jean Burnell of East Conway and Roberta Huntress of Fryeburg.


    A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pine Grove Cemetery in Fryeburg, Maine. Donations may be made in memory of Joan to the Fryeburg Fire Department. Arrangements are by Wood Funeral Home of Fryeburg.
