John Huntress was born at Lyman, Grafton County, New Hampshire, between 9 February 1814 and 11 January 1815 birth date calculated from Army enlistments which place as Lyman, Maine.5,6,1,7,8,9 He was the son of John Huntress and Amanda Hadlock. Sergt. John Huntress married at Lyman, Grafton County, New Hampshire, on 12 December 1832, Mehitable Hadlock ceremony performed by Joshua Thornton, Justice of the Peace.10 Sergt. John Huntress married say 1841, Hannah Maria Wright, daughter of Alexander Wright.11,12,13 Sergt. John Huntress died (drowned) circa 1848 "when a ship he was on, The Dalton, exploded - he was one of five passengers".2,14
     He enlisted in the U.S. Army by Lt. Wheelock for 3 years, Company D, 2nd Dragoons on 11 January 1836 at Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, described as 21 years old, blue eyes, dark hair, fair complexion, 5' 7", born in Lyman, Maine, a laborer.15 He was described as 21 years old, blue eyes, dark hair, fair complexion, 5' 7", born in Lyman, Maine, a laborer on 11 January 1836.16 On 23 May 1836 the Second Regiment of Dragoons was formed by executive order of President Andrew Jackson to address trouble in Florida during the Second Seminole War. He was discharged from active duty as a Sergeant because of expiration of service at Fort Fanning, Alachua County, Florida, on 11 January 1839.15

      "He attended Saco schools and graduated from Thornton Academy in 1960, and from Southern Maine Technical College in 1962.
For over 35 years, Mr. Huntress was a baker for several institutions. He retired from the University of New Hampshire after 25 years.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Saco.

     John Fabyan Huntress was born at Newington, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, on 7 November 1775.2,3 He was the son of Nathan Huntress and Susanna Chick.1 John Fabyan Huntress married say 1800, Phebe Russell, daughter of Thomas Chandler Russell and Sarah Gooch.3 John Fabyan Huntress died on 13 September 1852 at age 76.3 He was buried at Huntress-Pratt Cemetery, Parsonsfield, York County, Maine, Inscription reads:
"JOHN HUNTRESS / DIED / Sept. 13, 1852 / Ae. 76 yrs. 10 m 6 days."
      His farm in the north west corner of Parsonsfield, Me, on the south bank of the Ossipee river, was owned, 1920, by his granddaughter Idella M.7 (Huntress) Stewart.3 John Fabyan Huntress was a cordwainer at Parsonsfield, York County, Maine, in 1800.3 John Huntress was listed as the head of a family on the 1810 Census at Parsonsfield, York County, Maine. Joseph Chalmers Hazen of the First Baptist Church.10,1

John L Huntress of Hiram married (intentions 12 Apr 1869) on 8 May 1869, at age 30, Sabrina C. Durgin, age 24, of Hiram, daughter of David Durgin and Jane Tyler.1,3 John L Huntress died on 6 February 1916 at age 77.1 He was buried at Riverside Cemetery, Cornish, York County, Maine, Inscription reads:

This marriage is based only on the circumstantial evidence that the were about the same age and last known residence was the same.7 John LLewellyn Huntress died at Dade County, Florida, on 16 July 1984 at age 66.3,6,8

     John Pickering Huntress was born at Newington, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, in 1791.3,4 He was the son of Noah Huntress and Abigail Pickering. John Pickering Huntress married at New Hampton, Belknap County, New Hampshire, on 30 January 1814, Mary Kimball, (both) of Center Harbor, daughter of John Kimball, ceremony performed by Simeon Dana.5,1,2 John Pickering Huntress died on 9 April 1859.
      John Pickering Huntress was a farmer at Centre Harbour, Belknap County, New Hampshire.3 He resided at Center Harbor, Belknap County, New Hampshire, in 1814.1 John P. Huntress was listed as the head of a family on the 1830 Census at Centre Harbour, Strafford County, New Hampshire. In his family were one male less than 5 years of age (Horace), two between 5 and 10 (Charles and John), one between 10 and 15 (William), one between 40 and 50 (John), one female less than 5 (Tryphena), and one between 30 and 40 (Mary). Willard, 16, was not enumerated.6 John P. Huntress was listed as the head of a family on the 1840 Census at Holderness, Grafton County, New Hampshire. In his family were one male under 5 (James S.), one 10-15 (Charles C.), two 15-20 (Horace L. and John Pickering), one 50-60 (John Pickering), two females 5-10 (Mary Jane and Elizabeth), one 10-15 (Tryphena A.), and one 40-50 (Mary).7 In 1845 John Pickering Huntress and his wife Mary conveyed his homestead farm, 25 acres in Holderness and 5 acres in Centre Harbour, to Andrew Smith.
