     Major Darling Huntress was born at Shapleigh, York County, Maine, on 4 October 1838.1,2 He was the son of Otis Robinson Huntress and Mary D. Pillsbury. Major Darling Huntress married at St. Nicholas' Church of England, Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia, on 8 December 1868, at age 30, Mary Ann Gray, age 19, daughter of Edward Gray and Janet Reilly.3,4 Major Darling Huntress died at Dubbo, New South Wales, Australia, on 10 January 1902 at age 63.5,6,3 He was buried at Presbyterian Section, Myall St. Cemetery, Dubbo, New South Wales, Australia.
     Contrary to what many believe, John Darling Huntress was not a Civil War Veteran; there is no record of his enlisment and he has been confused with John Varney Huntress, John Elias Huntress, and John L. Huntress. No will listed Was working on railway at Balladoran in Sept 1901. Various certificates give his occupation as contractor: supposed to have built the bridge at Rylstone and moved around the country as a bridge builder. No records from railway. Story that he and all the crew, including the captain, left their whaling ship at Eden NSW for the gold rushes.

     Marilyn Wendell Huntress was born at Saco, York County, Maine, on 8 September 1921.3,4,5 She was the daughter of Lewville Beal Huntress and Florice Marion Hill.2 Marilyn Wendell Huntress married on 1 April 1944, at age 22, Kenneth Grover Carter, age 31, son of Grover C Carter and Ethelyn Josephine Norton.6 Marilyn Wendell Huntress died at Maine Medical Center, Saco, York County, Maine, on 27 October 2004 of cancer at age 83.2,6,5 She was buried at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco, York County, Maine, on 18 November 2004.2
     She graduated from Thornton Academy, 438 Main Street at Saco, York County, Maine, in 1940.2 She "then went on to Nurses Training and worked as a private duty nurse. Marilyn then became a York County Sheriff's matron, and was also appointed as the first woman police officer in Saco and was in charge of crossing duties. She was the welfare director for the City of Saco, and was the secretary for the Saco Democratic Committee. Marilyn later became a education technician in the Saco school systems for over 20 years. She later managed the Saco Drive-In.

Marilyn was a member of the United Baptist Church in Saco, the Eastern Star and the Retired Teachers Association.

Marilyn's greatest joy in life was spending time with her beloved family. Her favorite time of the year was the holidays, especially Christmas. Marilyn always looked forward to seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.2 " She resided at Saco, York County, Maine, on 27 March 1996.7
