He was a graduate of Annapolis High School. While working as an elevator installer, he was discovered for his singing voice. Roland Bond was his voice teacher. While reading his Bible in Feb. 1957, he accepted the Lord as his Saviour. The Lord directed him to attend Bob Jones University, where he received his BA, MA and PhD, and later did additional studies at the Universities of Maryland and North Carolina. In addition to pastoring churches in South Carolina, Maryland, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, he helped to establish a college and several Christian schools. While pastoring in Kentucky, he held positions as Director of the Neighborhood Youth Corps and Mental Health Agency. For his work with the youth of Kentucky, he was made a Kentucky Colonel by the Governor. He will always be remembered for his beautiful singing voice which he used in his ministry and concert work.
