      Francis L. Childs in his unpublished Genealogy of Henniker Families says: "He is called 'of Reading' in his marriage record and seems to have lived close to the border of Lynn and Reading. He bought of Peter How 8 June 1780 all that part of Lot 5 Range 6 that lies east and north of the river and the brook, and came here in that year. He lived near the present house of Mrs. Arthur Felch. In 1799 he sold to John Kimball and removed to Brownfield, Me." While here he was an able and active citizen; highway surveyor 1782, 1791, 1796; on a committee to extend a call to the Rev. Mr. Fisher in 1793, and on another to call Mr. Hall in 1796; allowed L1/10/0 in 1792 for 'Providing Preachers.' In 1790, when the town first occupied the new meetinghouse, he was elected 'to tune the psalm,' and was allowed to sit in the minister's pew; in 1796 the town voted to allow him to make alterations in his pew.
